Village in Punjab is blessed with matchless scenic beauty and the freshness of the atmosphere. Lush green plains properly irrigated by canals and tube-wells look charming. Somewhere in between cultivated pieces of land, we have vast wilderness also. As we have one of the best systems of irrigation in the world, most of our area is properly cultivated. Our farmers are very hard-working and they have made our village an earthly paradise. Life in village is usually calm and peaceful. Everyone seems to be quite satisfied. There is no rush of traffic. Hence there is no noise, no trouble at all. Sanitary conditions in village are not good, but even then village look very beautiful. Now most of our villages have metaled road which connect the village to the markets and big shops in the neighboring city. They also the facility of electricity.
Life in village has its advantages and disadvantages. Life in village is easy and peaceful while life in city is busy. Village has fresh air and healthful atmosphere while city has impure air and polluted atmosphere.
Villagers lead their lives according to a set timetable. They start their work before the sunrise and keep on working for the whole day. When the sun sets they have time to rest. Midday breaks also provide them a little time to rest. There is no abnormality in their lives. That is why their health is usually in a very good condition. They breathe in fresh air and eat pure food. So they enjoy perfect health.
A villager is the true believer of God. He has to depend on God for everything. In case of the dry season; it is the villager who suffers. Rains damage his crops sometimes and sometimes his fields are devastated by hailstorms. He does not get disturbed. He is never dejected. A village dweller always tries to please Allah. He leads his life according to the dictates of the religion. This leads purity to his thoughts. That is why villagers are God-fearing, innocent and honest.
Mutual cooperation is the key thing of the village life. In village, people keep on living together for generations. In fact, they are the children of the same parents, grandparents and great grandparents. Their culture, their language and their beliefs are .the same. So they enjoy perfect coordination. Their joys and their sorrows are common. They work in their fields collectively and collectively they have the fun.
Fairs are the special features of village. They reflect the inborn innocence and the cooperation of the simple village people. The first impression that an outsider gets of these fairs is that the villagers are known how to enjoy life properly. Theaters, folk dance and sports are the important features  of a village fair. These fairs are held when the farmers are free from work. So they warmly participated in them and get maximum fun and thrill.

Thus life in village is a mixed blessing, it has its problems and pleasures. When we see the blessings of village life, we always desire to live in village. But when we look at the facilities in big city, we have different views.

In short, the life of a farmer is a strange blend of pleasures and problems. He adjusts himself to the available conditions. Without too much expectation from the government, he is serving his nation in the best possible way. His own life is very hard but he makes our lives easy. He is like a sheltering    tree that burns in the sun but gives cool shade and fresh air to others.
